From Down Under

Day 1

Here's a shout out to everyone from Down Under. Woohoo.
i embarked on the flight QF32 to Sydney. The flight was smooth, excellent entertainment, and pretty good food too.
I had my lunch on the plane (a choice between rice + curry fish or pasta with spinach and mushroom) I chose the latter of course.
Its an australian airline, not SQ, how good can local food get?

So i arrived at the airport promptly at 1935. Then my first embarrassing fiasco happened. I was waiting paitently for my luggage. There it is, my so
colour green-red luggage. And i thought my biceps were strong enough to lift that crap. Haha. But hell now, i was pulled by my own luggage ard the
damn luggage belt. Such a priceless moment eh? Then an australian man called out, "Someone get that green luggage please". Fortunately,
this rather big lady helped me with my luggage. Er..and that's not really the end of it.

Upon reaching my accomodation, i had problem wheeling those luggages. For a moment i felt like a snail. (read: bringing over my entire home) Ah, and once again,
i was lucky. This guy from UNSW helped me out. And this was what he said, " Do you have bricks inside or something"?. Thanks alot.

After we checked in to our rooms, we went down with the local students to grab something to eat. We had a choice between Mackers (thats the term for Macdonalds in aussie) and Oporto. Hah. We went Oporto, some fast food chain, and i got myself a small Bondi Meal ($5.95). A small, is usually the normal size of a Singapore burger, so can you imagine the Regular or Large? I can't.

Went home, showered, slept, listened to some Aussie Radio Station. Fell asleep. Freaking cold. I'm not sure if its the aircon or the weather. I slept with the windows open.
Hooray for the special mosquitoe fence?. I was freezing my ass off. The blanket was quite power. haha, but if i can't take the coldness, i'm afraid i have to succumb to the
cold. yeah right. i'll sleep with my sleeping bag, with the bag, on my bed. Am i smart or am i SMART? Teehee.

Day 2
Woke up late, didn't know had breakfast. Stupid me. Cuz i hate making grand entrances. So anyway, Brekies, oh sorry, i mean Breakfast,Brekies is aussie term, was at the Memorial Park.We had sandwiches and juices. I'm starting to like tomato and advocado sandwiches with cheese. Excellent.
The best thing happened today. We went shopping at this HUGE ASS MALL @ Eastgarden. We took a bus there, but before that, we went to the Newsagent to purchase
Travel 10 ($12.70). Its a bus ticket that allows you to take 10 trips, but here's the catch, if you travel past a certain section, you would have to punch the card twice! Aussie being aussies, so full of honesty. Haha. As for us, need i say more?

We went grocery shopping at Woolsworth. At the mall, there were 3 MEGA Supermarket. Kmart, Woolsworth, Coles, Target, W something. Oh wait, thats not 3, its more than that! We bought lotsa stuff. Vegetables, fruits, juices, milk, bread, canned food (my favourite), frozen food (also my favourite). So you see, the thing is, if you were to buy their HOMEBRAND. Yeah, its called Homebrand, the stuff are so so much cheaper. Its just like buying an NTUC noodles, instead of Myojo mee. For 40 frozen fishfingers, i paid like what, $5.50? Cool huh. A frozen meat pie for 89cents, a sausage roll for $1.30, toilet rolls are freaking cheap too. We shared of course. And my favourite Heinz bakedbeans and spaghetti. Its the best in the whold world. Ohhhh. and Kraft's mac n cheese too. Gasp. It would definitely be impossible for my to not grow fat/lose weight. Pfft.
Now i'm back, tired, and hungry.
Tata.

Day 3
I just got internet access. Got my matric card too.Hmm..and guess what, we don't exactly have unlimited access to the internet. They're charging us 44cents/mb. WTF?? I ain't too sure how much NUS is gonna absorb, though they promised they would. So therefore, i wont be uploading tonnes of pic. im gonna make them into a collage, and hopefully you guys can see it.
We cooked dinner today. Me and my roomie, plus two other guys from next door. On the menu was:
  • veggie + chicken with oyster sauce
  • sardines
  • baked beans
  • luncheon meat
  • corn
  • rice. cooked using rice cooker. someone actually brought one.
my roomies and neighbours are watching American Pie 2 on TV now.
Pics will be post ASAP.

XOXO

Grace
